Though it required some modification to get the engine in the back...

This orange one was rear-engined for a short time as well, but the engine was removed not long before this picture was taken:

In my opinion the Mansfield bar on trailers is too high. So many cars now have hoods that are lower than the bottom of the bar.

I read that rear-ended Corvette first time...

I've seen worse accidents that people have survived...

That's what i keep telling myself, anyway, as i look at that picture. Pretty brutal impact, from the looks of it, though I imagine that the roof has been removed by the EMTs already. It looks like the engine probably took the brunt of it, smashing it into the frame of the truck (which looks pretty narrow).

I imagine the engine going straight back between the seats, in which case the driver could survive...

But I'm just guessing.

It's pretty ugly, doesn't look like there is a human size space left for possible survival.

That's what I was looking for, a decent pic of a rear-ended Corvette, preferably with the two cars still joined, because then it'd have an engine in the rear... lame joke, admittedly.

But it's damned hard to find pictures of rear-ended Corvettes.

The roof on a 'vette is just fibreglass aint it? I do hope the engine went in between the rails on that trailers frames though.. Sure glad I did not drive that thing though.

Agreed. I've seen the crash testing done w/ Mansfield bar vs passenger car... most of the time the bar isn't properly braced and just folds up under the trailer anyway.

Regardless, I think that's a box truck in the pic, which likely has NO bumper at all. I think the Corvette driver hit it square on, putting the engine right on the frame of the truck.

Holy hell, that is just a box truck. That's just absurd that there isn't a bar/bumper.
